Get On The Plane Dammit!

If I had a dollar for every person who told me they would love to visit Australia I would have millions in the bank. They all say they want to visit down under but never do so. Many because of the long flight, others because they don't have a clue what it is like down here. Many think "Crocodile Dundee" others think kangaroos are running all over the place.

I moved to Sydney from Washington, D.C. in 1994, having retired from the U.S. Air Force and a second career with a military association as a director and government lobbyist.

I chose Sydney over Canberra because of the weather. l had an Aussie wife and two young boys who I raised as a stay at home Dad. Unemployment was high in 94 and very few companies were looking for over 50 managers with a military background.

So this blog will be about how I adjusted to living in Australia on limited retiree pay and continuing a lifestyle where I had ten times more to spend in the States. So keep in touch and I will share many of my experiences which you can employ when you visit here.
